Florida Holiday - Part One - Accommodation near Fort Myers

For the first week of our trip to Florida, we stayed in  a condo on Estero beach near Fort Myers on the West Coast.

(this photo was taken one evening just before a big thunderstorm - hence the sky)

It wasn't the cheapest holiday accommodation we have ever booked, but we were won over by the photos on the website and wanted to have a really relaxing first week, so we went ahead and indulged ourselves. I have to say that it was probably one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in and we didn't regret it for a second.  We were blessed and lived like kings and queens for a week.

Here's a quick guided tour.  It was mostly open plan, save for the bedrooms and bathrooms and was bigger than our house at home.

Living area

Dining area

Bar (!)

Breakfast bar

Kitchen

Laundry

Closet and Vanity (complete with robes)

Bathroom with spa bath and shower (one of two)

Bedroom with huge bed (one of three) - we were upgraded!

There were two balconies complete with mosquito netting, although it didn't stop the little blighters from getting in and biting me.

And a view of the beach.

There was a pool area where you'd find me at 8am most mornings, before the sun got really hot, reading my book and relaxing.

The pool led out onto a  lovely sandy beach with dunes in an area that was not commercial at all.  There were numerous interesting birds on the beach, including an eagle hovering above

(I think these were pink spoonbills)

and sea turtles laid their eggs in the dunes.

OH and LB played volleyball.

And we took long walks along the beach admiring the handiwork of others,

watching the weather at sunset (this was a huge thunderstorm around the coast from us - they occurred most nights)

and checking out local wildlife.

(Tadpoles in a pool on the beach).

It was bliss. Just how we like it. No pressures, no stress, just pure relaxation.

    1. We did really indulge ourselves I do realise, but I think if you're going to do it, do it good. It's a long way and we'll probably won't go back to Florida for a long time.

  2. That looks absolutely lovely. Sometimes indulging is the best possible thing.

    God bless.
