February Progress

February has been a productive month. Paid work has eased up a little this month now my contract has changed, so I've found myself with more free time, which has been a lovely luxury. It means I'll earn less money, but I don't need too much to get by these days.

As a consequence, I've managed to do a bit of cleaning and re-organising in the sewing room and vestibule cupboard, which was much needed. There's still a lot more to do, but I'll just continue doing what I can, when I can and trying to make progress.

Financially, it's been a less spendy month, although I have invested in a new pair of prescription sunglasses. I've also finally applied for a new passport  which should be arriving today and I also got a hair cut. These three things have been the biggest expenses this month, but were all long overdue. I also paid for LB's eye test, but need to pay for some glasses for her in March.

In terms of my fitness journey, things have slowed down considerably this month. I had what felt like a long stretch of plateau (over two weeks), with my weight not moving hardly at all. I don't think it helped that I was overeating a little and probably eating at maintenance level, as opposed to sticking to a calorie deficit, but at least weight didn't go on, it just stayed the same. I'm hoping to get back into the calorie deficit in March and get the scales moving in the right direction again.

I tried something new this month, with my first weightlifting personal training session, which OH treated me to as a Valentine's gift. I enjoyed it, but haven't gone back for further training or to classes yet, but I have been trying to put what I learned into practice in the gym, so it was very useful in that respect. I'm not sure what I'm going to do going forward.

Still no attempts at running or Couch to 5K yet this year. Just not yet feeling it, but I'm not putting pressure on myself. I'll do it when I feel the time is right or not if it isn't.  The weather doesn't help when it's still cold and wet.

The Walking 1,000 miles in 2024 Challenge, that I set myself this year is still going okay. I didn't walk as much this month as I did last month, but I still managed to surpass the monthly target of 135km, by walking just under 139km, so I'm still on track. It wasn't too bad, considering February is the shortest month of the year, but I'm hoping that as the weather gets better, I'll be inspired to get more steps in.

Finally, I've had a really good month in terms of sewing and making. I've done lots of scrap fabric making projects, which I've really enjoyed and I'm making progress on the star hexi quilt, although there's still a long way to go with it. I've also altered a few clothing items to make them more wearable.

I haven't got a lot of expense on the horizon in March, as there are no birthdays I need to buy for, no major expenses planned, save to pay for some new glasses for LB, so hopefully it should be a better month still on the spending front. I hope so anyway.

In conclusion, it's been a good month with lots of progress made. How has your month been?

  1. You have had a good month, mine passed by in a blur of coughing and bugs.

  2. I have a lot of birthdays in March together with Mother's Day and Easter this year - I am hoping to make a few. I have been concentrating on doing a lot of clearing and cleaning - finding homes for things can be quite a challenge and we have a heap of stuff to list on Ebay or the like. DH has taken the photos (the easy bit) but doing the narrative s the part I don't get round too very quickly. Keep up with the walking - I should be out there doing some too but once I start on the decluttering I am on a mission!

  3. My month wasn't too bad at all. I managed to finish all but one of my crafty plans, did some decluttering and lots of cleaning.
I am still feeling pretty tired, but pretty sure it is from not really sleeping deeply.
Spending wise we did very well. Not so sure about this month as of yet. We shall see what stretching or what sales I can manage to find.

    God bless.

  4. Love your optimism in buying sunglasses...as the rain pours down! Can you get a daily walking routine e.g. by walking some of the way to work? That's how I do most of my walking (and listening to audiobooks, podcasts etc)

    1. I think when the weather gets better I will probably walk more. Walking to work is a difficult one as I finish at 10pm and I don't like to walk or catch public transport home because of where the bus stop is. I might consider cycling to work in the summer or walking if I'm working until 6pm.
